Challenge
Due to their outdated and non-integrated system, T. Hasegawa struggled with inefficiencies and order-processing errors, costing them time and money. Because of this, the company suffered from excessive training time for new employees, higher error rates, and long order input times.
T. Hasegawa needed to find a partner to design an easy-to-use system with limited opportunity for error that meets the distinct challenges of every department while integrating seamlessly into their current Infor LX system.
Solution
VIRTUTEM worked alongside T. Hasegawa to transform a complex, fully-functional ERP system into a modernized Infor LX system that is easily-trainable to new employees and limits bottlenecks in the ordering process.
The VIRTUTEM team developed a browser-based single-screen GUI interface to replace T. Hasegawa’s multi-screen “green screen” and improve the user experience when inputting orders.
In addition, VIRTUTEM integrated batch metrics, accounts payable, and freight management into T. Hasegawa’s LX.
By consolidating previously disparate processes into a unified interface, VIRTUTEM empowered T. Hasegawa’s customer service representatives to input only essential order information, automating the rest. This reduced user input error to almost 0%, reducing costs and increasing revenue.
Rather than five or six screens, the only information CSRs needed to answer was, “Who is the customer?” “What are the items, and when do you want them shipped?”
Result
As a result of VIRTUTEM’s new GUI interface and Infor LX integrations, T. Hasegawa reduced the training time for new employees from 7 weeks to only a few hours. Tasks such as inputting orders that used to take 25 minutes now take only 3 minutes.
The simplified order-processing system reduced backorders drastically while improving on-time delivery to nearly 99%.
