VIRTUTEM primarily assists companies with Infor LX software and decided it’s time to learn more about how the landscape of Infor LX users is changing. Our data confirmed that changes are coming regarding Infor LX users, but not the changes you’d expect.
We wanted to take a deep dive into the changing demographics and how that’s changing the landscape of Infor LX worldwide.
2023 State of Infor LX Survey
The 2023 VIRTUTEM State of Infor LX survey was sent out to Infor LX users across the United States. The survey included seven questions designed to gain insight into the demographics of Infor LX users, how businesses are using Infor LX and trends across the Infor LX landscape.

The Demographics of Infor LX Users
We asked Infor LX users to tell us their age, and the results were as follows:
- 25-34: 14%
- 35-44: 21%
- 45-54: 7%
- 55-64: 50%
- 65+: 7%
Two pieces of data immediately jumped out to us. The first was that over 55% of Infor LX users were over 55. The second was that 35% of users were between the ages of 25-34.
Older Age of Infor LX Users
With such a large number of Infor LX users over the age of 55, there are some inferences we can begin to make based on the data. First, many Infor LX users will be retiring within the next 5-10 years, highlighting the importance of training younger employees on Infor LX.
If businesses are not interested in training younger employees, then there will be an increase in the number of Infor LX clients looking for support teams to fill out their staff.
No matter what current Infor LX users choose, in the coming years, businesses will have to either replace their retiring talent with homegrown Infor LX users or pay support staff to fill in the voids.
An Emerging Youth Movement in Infor LX
At the same time, we’re seeing a majority of Infor LX users over 55; there’s a significant movement of younger people learning, studying, and working with Infor LX. There were approximately 35% of surveyors between the ages of 24-44, showing that companies are looking to invest in younger talent as employees begin to retire.
If this trend continues, as one group of employees retires, a new generation of trained Infor LX users will be ready to take over.
A Need for Modernization
We can infer from this data that there will be a higher significance put on the modernization and upgrading of Infor LX systems. New users look to use modern systems, and while the Green Screen works, an upgraded Infor LX system delivers an improved interface that’s simpler and more user-friendly.
As more and more Infor LX users retire, the need for upgraded ERP software increases.
